Dhikala lies in the Patli Dun valley, where the Ramganga River and the Kanda ridge frame broad grasslands. The famous Dhikala chaur gives the landscape its open character, contrasting with the sal woodland along the approach from Dhangadi Gate.
The forest rest-house complex brings together historic buildings and several accommodation categories. A night here is about the setting: changing light over the valley, birds around the campus and the quiet of staying within the forest. The allocated building and room category depend on your confirmed reservation.
Elephants, spotted deer and hog deer use the grassland habitats. Tigers also occur in the reserve, but every sighting depends on wildlife movement. Guided drives follow authorised routes; an overnight permit does not allow independent exploration after dark.
Dhikala has dining facilities, including a restaurant and canteen, but meals and their charges should be confirmed with your package. Overnight access is seasonal. Ask us to check the current opening dates, accommodation allocation and permitted vehicle arrangements before finalising travel.
